Short Take: HP, Cisco release software for telecom services

Hewlett-Packard and Cisco Systems unveiled the first software products from their network partnership. The new software technology, for data networks based on Internet protocol (IP), will offer service providers a set of tools to build telecommunications services and applications. The new OpenCall Multiservice Controller set works with voice gateways and routing devices from Cisco. The software will be available next month, and further enhancements are expected by early 2000.
