Short Take: Homestead get $4.5 million in VC funding

Online community builder Homestead Technologies has completed a $4.5 million round of financing from a group led by VC firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Homestead soon will introduce Homestead.com, a service based on 100 percent Pure Java that allows users to collaboratively create and publish on the Web. Founded in 1997, Homestead is a Menlo Park, California-based company with more than 50 employees.
