Hitachi will significantly expand its supercomputer offerings, adding the new models to its Japanese-market lineup, Hitachi said in a statement. Some of the mainframes will have twice the data-processing capacity per processor as current systems, while the rest will be capable of up to 1.3 times the capacity, Reuters reported. The new models will go into the MP5800 and MP5600 series.
