Short Take: Hearings beginning on new FTC commissioner

The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold hearings Wednesday on nominating Sheila Foster Anthony to the Federal Trade Commission. Anthony is the former head of the Office of Legislative Affairs for the Justice Department. Her legal experience includes intellectual property rights and international issues. Nominated by Clinton in January, Anthony could take the seat of Christine Varney, who resigned last month and was the FTC's most vocal commissioner on Net issues.
