Short Take: General Magic jumps on Intuit deal

Shares of General Magic jumped 16 percent after the company announced an exclusive deal with Intuit, the makers of Quicken.com. Intuit plans to use General Magic's magicTalk voice platform to allow Quicken users to voice-access their financial information over a telephone. General Magic will run the service from its Portico network operations center in Sunnyvale, California. The service should be available for users on a limited basis in early 1999.
