Short Take: Gemplus releases public key smart card

Gemplus has released GPK2000, a public-key smart card for use in e-commerce applications and computer security. The card, which features RSA-based digital signature authentication and 2,048 bytes of EEPROM memory, is the first in a new line from Gemplus. The GPK4000 and GPK8000, with 4K and 8K bytes of memory, respectively, are scheduled for release in 1997.
