Short Take: Film industry unit to block Net video piracy

The Motion Picture Association of America has created a Digital Strategy department to help head off online video piracy. J. Scott Dinsdale, a former chief technology officer at BMG Entertainment, will lead the department. He joins the MPAA from online syndication start-up FirstLook. MPAA chief executive Jack Valenti said the organization is working to ensure copyrighted works are protected from theft as studios make films available in digital formats.
