Short Take: Exodus, AOL adopt new caching technologies

Web site hosting firm Exodus Communications has adopted Inktomi's Traffic Server caching technology, which Exodus will market under the name ReadyCache. Caching works to ease traffic congestion on the Internet by storing copies of frequently accessed Web content on servers located closer to the end user. In other caching news, America Online will use Sandpiper Networks' technology for delivery of streaming media content.
