Short Take: Excite@Home touts TV applications

Excite@Home, the leading cable modem service, moved one step closer to offering interactive television by detailing specific products and services the company will offer its cable operator partners. Excite@Home, which has been developing the TV service for about a year, will offer network operations and billing services, client software, email, and interactive content. AT&T's cable unit said it will use Excite@Home's infrastructure for interactive TV, and Excite@Home is a "strong contender" to provide the content. @Home TV is expected later this year or in early 2000.
