Short Take: E*Trade deposits hit record high

For the first time, E*Trade's new customer deposits topped $100 million in one day last week, the online broker said. The record total was $108.6 million. E*Trade has been averaging $60 million per day in new deposits in January, compared with a daily average of $28.5 million in the first quarter of 1998, and now holds more than $15 billion in its accounts.
