Short Take: Essential.com wins $75 million in funding

Essential.com, an energy and communication services company, has attracted $75 million in second-round funding, the Burlington, Mass.-based company announced today. Essential, which offers Internet access, phone and long-distance services as well as commodity services such as electricity and heating oil, is one of the many firms trying to tap into the small business market. Amerindo Investment Advisors led the group of investors, Essential said.
