Dell, which sells its PCs directly to consumers, announced Monday it will ship computers within 48 hours of purchase in the United States. Customers must use a credit card and order from a certain group of Dimension desktops or Inspiron notebooks through Dec. 20. Customers buying a PC during that time can also receive a free printer, scanner or Web camera. In addition, customers who make their purchases online between Dec. 12 and 18 receive free ground-shipping.
