Short Take: Cray upgrades SV1 supercomputer
Cray has upgraded its SV1 supercomputer, announcing the SV1ex with a starting price of $700,000 but the improvements won't be fully available until the second quarter of 2001. Compared to its predecessor, the new machine uses faster processors and memory and can accommodate more total memory. The company has sold more than 100 SV1 systems since it was introduced in September 1999, including five at Ford Motor.
