Short Take: Corbis buys Stock Market Photo Agency

Corbis, the image archive company owned by Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, agreed to buy Stock Market Photo Agency for an undisclosed price to add to its collection of commercial photography. Closely held Stock Market Photo has more than 3 million images from photographers around the world and has offices in the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands. Seattle-based Corbis already owns 65 million images, with 2.1 million of them online. Earlier this month, Corbis said it acquired Saba Press Photos, a New York-based photography agency, to add to its collection of news and portraiture photography.
