After its plan to protect consumers' online privacy was criticized for lacking teeth by Clinton administration officials, the Online Privacy Alliance, a group of 50-plus companies that includes America Online and Microsoft, will unveil the enforcement plan for its self-regulatory regime to shield private data on the Net. Former FTC Commission Christine Varney, who helped launch the group last month, will present the plan before the House Commerce Committee's subcommittee on telecommunications during a hearing on e-commerce and Internet privacy.
