Short Take: Compaq completes acquisition

Compaq Computer has completed its acquisition of remote access communications specialist Microcom, originally announced in April. The PC maker will pay roughly $280 million for Microcom, based in Norwood, Massachusetts. All outstanding Microcom shares, not held by Compaq, have been converted into the right to receive $16.25 per share in cash.
