Short Take: Clarent revenue triples

saw its first-quarter revenue triple as the Internet telephony equipment maker beat Wall Street analysts' expectations by 8 cents. Excluding one-time costs, Clarent posted a first-quarter income of $900,000, or 3 cents a share, compared to a loss of $3.5 million, or 64 cents a share, during the same period last year. A consensus of analysts had expected a loss of 5 cents per share, according to First Call. First-quarter revenue jumped from $6.7 million last year to $24.6 million this year.
