Short Take: Cisco rolls out new networking equipment
Data giant Cisco Systems announced more carrier deployments of its networking equipment, highlighted by new rollouts by GTE and Sprint. Sprint plans to use Cisco's digital subscriber line (DSL) equipment, while GTE continues to roll out services based on Internet protocol, using Cisco's routing devices, dial-access equipment, and associated software. Cisco also announced a deal to provide dial-access equipment to the Shandong Post and Telecommunications Authority, a telco service provider based in northern China.
