Cisco Systems announced an new two-year agreement to provide networking equipment for MCI Worldcom, complementing existing deals between the carrier and network equipment provider. MCI plans to deploy Cisco's asynchronous transfer mode (ATM)-based BPX 8600 wide-area switches and MGX 8220 concentration equipment. The additions are part of a roll out of IP-based services using ATM technology, a recent strategic thrust for Cisco.
