Cisco Systems has debuted a new gigabit-speed model and new modules for its Catalyst line. The new 5509 model scales to more than 50 gigabits per second of switching capacity and up to 38 Gigabit Ethernet ports, Cisco said, with prices starting at $13,995. Cisco also rolled out a 9-port EtherChannel module, available now, and a new Network Analysis module for administration, due to ship in the fourth quarter.
