Compaq Computer said it has sold ultra-high-end Tandem Himalaya computers to Canadian stock exchanges. The Toronto Stock Exchange, which handles 95 percent of Canadian equity trades, will use Himalaya S74000 servers to handle transactions and its order-matching system. The Bourse de Montreal will use Himalaya S72000 machines to run part of its system. In addition, the Sydney Futures Exchange in Australia will use Compaq's high-end AlphaServers running the OpenVMS operating system for part of its trading system.
