Short Take: California bill for online campaign reporting out of committee
The California Assembly Appropriations Committee has passed a bill that would require candidates and other campaigners to report finances online by June 1, 2000, if their total contributions exceed $100,000 in primary elections and $50,000 in general elections. Democratic Sen. Betty Karnette's bill is expected to go for an assembly vote Monday. The legislation will then be sent back the Senate for a final vote.
