Short Take: Cabletron holds on to Spectrum

After rumors of a spin-off, Cabletron Systems announced plans to keep its Spectrum network management software business in-house but separate it into a dedicated organization covering products and services. The struggling networking company said the move is intended to speed future development of Spectrum software offerings. Ken Sullivan will oversee Cabletron's Spectrum software solutions and services organization after a stint as head of the company's service and support department.
