Computer Associates has purchased Innovative DP Designs, maker of software management utilities for IBM's IMS databases. The software by Innovative runs on IBM's OS/390 computing systems. CA executives said the acquisition complements the company's recent acquisition of Platinum, which makes database tools, among other products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
