Short Take: Budget Rent a Car settles piracy dispute

Watchdog the Business Software Alliance (BSA) said that Budget Rent a Car has paid $403,500 to settle claims that it had unlicensed software installed on its computers. The watchdog investigated three of the rental car firm's offices after it was called with a tip. Budget voluntarily audited its computers and found it was running more copies of software programs than it had licensed, the BSA said. Along with the settlement payment, the BSA said Budget agreed to delete the unlicensed software.
