Short Take: Brokerage suspends coverage of Sybase

Gruntal & Company has suspended research coverage of Sybase and has recommended that investors liquidate their holdings. In a report, the brokerage said that it believes the database maker will have "difficult time" in its core database business and that the company has seen shrinking opportunity as a result of top-down competition from Oracle and increasingly tougher bottom-up competition from Microsoft.
