Short Take: Borland acquisition of Visigenic moves forward

The Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the 30-day waiting period required by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act for the proposed acquisition of Visigenic Software by Borland International. The companies are now eligible to proceed with the acquisition, subject to approval by the stockholders of both companies and the satisfaction of other customary conditions. Stockholders in both companies are expected to meet in February.
