Short Take: Blockbuster expands PC game rentals

Blockbuster and NetActive announced they will expand a PC game rental program to 14 cities and 175 stores. PC games rentals began as a test program with NetActive in April 1999 with franchise stores in Texas and Alaska. It will now be offered in Blockbuster stores in Austin, Texas; Boston; Detroit; Cleveland; Hartford, Conn.; Houston; Indianapolis; Jacksonville, Fla.; Los Angeles; Orlando, Fla.; Raleigh, N.C.; Sacramento, Calif.; Salt Lake City and San Diego. The program lets customers rent a PC game for five evenings for $5.99, plus $3.99 for an additional five evenings. Participating Blockbuster stores will carry about 20 PC games.
