Short Take: Bills would require Net filtering software availability

The Texas House of Representatives has introduced a bill that would make it mandatory for ISPs to make Internet filtering software available to all their customers. Democratic California Rep. Zoe Lofgren introduced a similar bill in the U.S. Congress last week. Lofgren's bill would also repeal the provision in the Communications Decency Act that makes it illegal to knowingly transmit indecent material to minors over the Net.
