Short Take: Bell Atlantic, 3Com to offer retail DSL kit

Bell Atlantic and 3Com have partnered to offer a do-it-yourself digital subscriber line (DSL) kit in retail stores. Consumers will be able to purchase a 3Com DSL modem from CompUSA or other stores to independently install the technology while following directions on an instructional CD-ROM. Bell Atlantic's DSL service costs $49.95 a month, and will soon be available in various locations on the East coast, while the kit is scheduled to be available at the end of the month.
