Short Take: Beatnik scores $11 million from investors

Web audio technology firm has secured $11 million in financing from a group of investment firms, including the Mayfield Fund, Entertainment Media Ventures, and the Zomba Group. Beatnik has audio content partnerships with Yahoo Digital and MTV Online, and the Beatnik Audio Engine has licensed partners including Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and Intel. More than 7 million people use the Beatnik Player to access audio content online, the company said.
