Short Take: Bay debuts Ethernet-based modules

Bay Networks announced new Ethernet-based modules for the company's Multimedia Switch. The move extends the potential for sending video across a network from ATM-based layouts to typical local Ethernet-based departments. The new V-Ether additions include a six-port 10 mbps module and a two-port 100 mbps module. The 10 mbps module is available now and is priced at $2,500. The 100 mbps device costs $3,000 and will be available in the second quarter.
