Short Take: Apple names senior VP for worldwide operations

Apple Computer has named Timothy D. Cook, formerly vice president of corporate materials at Compaq, senior vice president of worldwide operations. Cook, who will report to Apple's CEO and be a member of Apple's executive team, will be responsible for leading the company's worldwide procurement, supply-chain management, manufacturing, and distribution.
