Short Take: Apple and Quintal settle patent dispute

Apple Computer and San Francisco start-up Quintal Research Group settled a two-year-old dispute over an iconic data management system patent owned by Quintal. Quintal had alleged that Apple's HyperCard and System 7 software infringed on Quintal's patented DataSurfer technology. Under the settlement, Apple will licence the technology from Quintal and will pay the company an undisclosed amount.
