Short Take: AMD wins Samsung's best-supplier award

Advanced Micro Devices has won the Samsung Electronics "Best Supplier" award for 2000. AMD earned the award for its flash memory, which Samsung uses in its wireless terminal division. "We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award from the leading manufacturer of CDMA-cellular telephones, the fastest growing segment of the wireless market," Walid Maghribi, group vice president of AMD's memory group, said, referring to Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). AMD's other flash memory awards include the Nortel Networks 2000 "Supplier of the Year" award and the Cisco Systems 1999 "Semiconductor Supplier of the Year" award. In January, AMD announced its agreement to supply flash memory to Samsung.
