AMD is shipping removable flash memory cards for consumer electronics such as digital cameras, audio recorders, smart cellular phones, and pocket PCs. The cards, which store and exchange image, text, and voice data, are available in both 2.7-volt and 5.0-volt versions. They are based on the Miniature Card Implementers Forum (MCIF) standard, which ensures interoperability between handheld devices and the PC. Pricing starts at $30 for a 2MB card in 10,000 unit volume.
