Short Take: Amazon gives new design a second try

Amazon.com is quietly testing a new home page today, the second such test in two weeks. The test will last just for today and not all users will see the new page because Amazon's servers are delivering it to users at random, a company representative said. Amazon has not decided to switch to the new look, which replaces its familiar store "tabs" with an interface that looks more like a portal such as Yahoo.
