Amazon.com filed for an initial public offering of 2.5 million shares priced at $13 each. The IPO values the company at $299 million and would raise $33.9 million to be used for anticipated operating losses, capital expenditures, and other general corporate uses, the company said. Amazon.com will have 22.95 million common shares outstanding after the IPO. The company's underwriters are led by Deutsche Morgan Grenfell.
