Short Take: Alcatel, Loral join forces on satellite venture

Alcatel and Loral Space & Communications have finalized details for the creation of a new satellite services company. EuropeStar Limited will provide video broadcast and telecommunications services in Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. The two-satellite venture, to be based in London, will begin service in the first quarter of 1999.
