STB Systems announced a graphic adapter with 3D hardware. The Velocity 3D features 2D and 3D hardware accelerators and full-motion video playback. It comes with 4MB of VRAM for $249, and an optional card that supplies an additional 4MB of DRAM for a total of 8MB for $349. The Velocity 3D is capable of up to 16.7 million colors for photo-realistic images and resolutions to 1600 by 1200 with refresh rates up to 160Hz. It supports Microsoft ActiveMovie and future multimedia-related products from STB.
