Short: Oracle board member resigns

Oracle announced the resignation of James A. Abrahamson from its board of directors, effective October 14. Abrahamson joined Oracle as chairman in 1992 as part of an effort by CEO Larry Ellison to add a measure of stability to the company's turbulent management ranks after the database company suffered a financial loss in 1991. He stepped down as chairman last year, but remained a director of the company. Abrahamson will devote his efforts to his own investment banking firm, International Air Safety, which specializes in air traffic control technologies.
