Short: MapQuest does ActiveX, Java

MapQuest has upgraded its two Web-based interactive map services with Java and ActiveX. New features in the company's Interactive Atlas application include multiple window views, a "magnifying glass" feature that zooms in on a chosen sector of a map, and a separate, color-coded list of points of interest that corresponds to icons on a map. The TripQuest application now offers graphical, point-to-point driving instructions as well as written instructions that indicate highway exits and total mileage. The Java and ActiveX upgrades require either Netscape Communications Navigator 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0.
