Shaw to Offer Net Access

Shaw Communications has announced a deal to purchase 100,000 CyberSurfr cable modems and Cable Router infrastructure products from Motorola to provide consumers with high-speed access to the Net and online services beginning in late 1996.

The CyberSurfr modem offers throughput speeds of up to 10 mbps in the downstream path and upstream path throughput of 768 kbps, according to Motorola officials.

Shaw will deploy the equipment for its commercial and residential customers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
