I know, I know, that's a bold statement up there in the headline, 'cause there are a lot of fine-looking AAs out there. These are Sanyo's newest NiMH rechargeable batteries and, honestly, when was the last time you saw batteries with a tribal tattoo?
Called XX, Sanyo says the black-and-silver design is symbolic of their "appropriateness for professional use" with a look inspired by gadget users that "further emphasizes both Sanyo's commitment to offering the latest in digital fashion as well as its design capabilities."
For those of you that just care about performance, XX batteries have a high 2500mAh capacity providing 25 percent more power than Sanyo's standard eneloop-powered AA-size batteries and will continue to work down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Maybe just as important is their stable discharge, so there's no reduction in voltage and drop off in performance as they're used.
They have a low self-discharge, too, holding up to 75 percent of their charge after one year in storage. The batteries are ready to use out of the package and can be recharged up to 500 times.
A package of four AA-size batteries will be available in July at an MSRP of $24.99 with a presale starting today on Amazon.
