Sex sells.

Sex.com, a controversial Web site that found itself embroiled in legal battle with VeriSign after its site was hijacked, has been sold to Escom LLC.

The sale marks a new chapter for the adult site, which saw its legal case break new ground in helping to define Web sites as real property. Escom LLC is listed as the new owners at the bottom of the Sex.com Web site, which was previously owned by Gary Kremen's Grant Media LLC.

According to a report in XBiz.com, an adult industry publication, Sex.com sold for an estimated $14 million. The publication reported that Kremen had been seeking a buyer for the Web site over the past year and that he wanted to exit the adult business.
