Fans probably sensed it coming. On Saturday, Netflix announced dates not only for the second season of its original series "Sense8," but gifted viewers with a Christmas special.

The Christmas special will be available to stream December 23, and the second season of the sci-fi show will premiere on May 5, 2017.

Sure, the two-hour Christmas special is just around the corner, but some fans felt that May was too long to wait for those who'd perhaps binged the entire 12-episode season back in June 2015.

"Sense8" is an Emmy-nominated sci-fi drama from "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski and "The Matrix" creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski, although BuzzFeed reported in May that Lilly would be stepping back from the second season. It focuses on eight strangers from around the world who find out they are "sensates," humans who are mentally and emotionally linked.
