Readers may find from time to time that issues with their toolbars arise. One of the more common issues is for a button to "disappear" or "move" from its normal place.

MacFixIt reader Paul N. writes:

"Recently, the "Send" button doesn't appear when I send a new or forwarded e-mail.  When I want to send it, I have to use the pull-down message menu.  There used to be a convenient "Send" button right on the outgoing message window.  How can I get the button back?"
For Mail, and many other Mac applications, you can customize the toolbar buttons that show up on various windows throughout the program. For Paul's issue, start with the outgoing message window as the active window:
1. From the Mail menu bar click View > Customize Toolbar...
2. From the window that appears, you can drag any of the icons and place them (or reorder them) on the outgoing message window. You can also drag the default icon set to your toolbar to replace the existing icons. This window also allows you to select how your icons are displayed:
- Icon & Text
- Icon Only
- Text Only
3. Click "Done" and your new icon set will be your default for that window.

Note: You may also right-click (ctrl click) on an empty portion of the toolbar you would like to customize and select "Customize Toolbar... ."
