Welcome to Home Deals, where we pick out the best deals on things you need for your home, garden and beyond. Like our cousin, the Cheapskate, we'll give you a regular selection of smoking-hot deals, but we'll cover things like smart home tech, washing machines, wireless security cameras and anything else your home or garden requires.

Your home can never be too secure, and there are plenty of deals out there that can help you out. Here are some of the best deals we could find in smart home security tech.

A set of two Arlo HD wireless cameras is on sale at Walmart.com for $270, down from $330.

Putting a few cameras around the house is a great way to keep an eye on things, and keep an eye out for deliveries or intruders. Amazon has a sweet deal on a low-cost Foscam PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera: the F19281 for $69.99. It's an older model, but it still works well.

If you want something that can shoot higher resolution images and is more suitable for indoors, Amazon also has the Foscam R2 1080p camera for $74.99. As well as viewing the image remotely, both cameras carry your voice, so if you spot your dog chewing on the couch cushions, you can have a quiet word with him.

There are other great camera deals out there as well: Walmart has a two-pack of Netgear Arlo webcams for $269.99. That's $60 off the usual $329.99 cost of this kit, which includes two cameras and the gateway that controls them. We reviewed this wireless system here.

If our preview of the Gate tickled your fancy for a video doorbell, the SkyBell HD is on sale for $199, $60 off the usual price. That's a lot cheaper than the Gate, but this model doesn't include the smart lock functions. It does allow you to speak to someone at the door from anywhere in the world as if you were in the house, though. SlickDeals has a pretty, well, slick deal on the August Smart Lock: you can pick up a refurbished one for $119 after a $40 mail-in rebate. That's not the only place it is on sale, though: Amazon has the same refurbished lock on sale for $159 if you choose the dark gray or silver colors.

The First Alert FATS2030FG fireproof document safe.

First Alert

Security is about more than just cameras, though. It's about saving the things that are important, like the bits of paperwork that you need. These are best kept in a fireproof safe, and the Wirecutter did a series of tests that involved a real fire. The First Alert FATS2030FG was their top pick, and this fire-defying document safe is now on sale at NewEgg for $73.95. That's $5 off the typical that $80 that this model goes for, and it isn't a lot to pay for some peace of mind.
