Save big on two sweet LCDs
Are you looking for a nice, big monitor for your desktop? How about an even bigger HDTV for a den or bedroom? Either way, we have you covered.
In recent months, I've noticed that LCD prices have not only stopped dropping, but they've also crept up a bit. That's why I'm excited to bring you two, two, two LCD deals today--both of them better than I've seen in a while.
First up: eWiz has a new Acer V233HBD 23-inch LCD monitor for $159.99 with free shipping. That's after applying coupon code SHOWERS15 at checkout.
Though fairly basic in terms of specifications, this spacious screen rocks full 1080p, 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution. It has DVI and VGA inputs, a 5ms response time, and Acer's unusually generous three-year warranty. I mention that because I've had LCDs die on me, and always after the one-year mark--the standard warranty period for most monitors.
The V233HBD doesn't have an HDMI port or speakers, so it's not exactly a multimedia champ. However, if you want something a little bigger than the typical 22-inch display for about the same price, this is a fine option. The coupon code is good through April 18.
Next: TigerDirect has the refurbished Vizio VA26LHDTV10T 26-inch LCD HDTV for $199.99, plus $23 or so for shipping. That's after redeeming a $50 mail-in rebate (PDF).
With its maximum 1,366x768-pixel resolution (aka 720p), the Vizio makes a better TV than it does a monitor. That said, it can easily pull double duty, as it has a VGA input and two HDMI inputs. It also includes a component-video input for connecting a game console such as the Nintendo Wii and so on.
You can get the full scoop on the VA26LHDTV10T on Vizio's product page--where, interestingly, the list price of $449.99 is on prominent display.
Of course, that's for a new model. TigerDirect is selling a refurbished set, and therefore comes with a 90-day warranty. You'll have to decide if saving $200-plus is worth the risk.
For what it's worth, you can also buy the VA26LHDTV10T for $248 out the door from Buy.com. That's only $15 more than your post-rebate price from TigerDirect--but here there's no rebate involved.
