Sat nav: the blind leading the blind

Sat nav: the blind leading the blind

Kevin Massy
While improved technology is enabling drivers to think less and less for themselves, control of a car will always require at least a scintilla of intelligence. Unfortunately, according to the London Times, it appears that drivers in one area of the United Kingdom (where car satellite-navigation systems are fast becoming ubiquitous) have been reposing too much faith in their onboard wayfinding gadgets, blindly following directions into swollen rivers, then having to abandon their waterlogged cars.

I guess you can lead a motorist to water, but you can't make him think.
